Hello, and welcome to the weekend warrior channel!
Today I’m going to be reviewing the IB-3 multi-tool from ParkTool. I did receive this multi-tool as a prize at a cycling event but I am in no way endorsed by ParkTool. This multi-tool retails for around $25 and, in my opinion, is worth every penny. It is very similar to the Crank Brothers M17 multi-tool. The only differences is that it has a 1.5mm hex key and a tire lever. However, the Crank brothers M17 does have two additional spoke wrenches, a 10mm open end wrench and it is 2grams lighter.
The IB-3 from ParkTool features 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8mm hex keys, a T25 Torx driver, regular screwdriver, 5-11 speed chain tool, 8mm box end wrench, a SW-0 and SW-2 spoke wrenches, and a composite wrapped tire lever. The IB-3 weighs in at a mere 170 grams.
The IB-3 from ParkTool includes many of the necessary tools to make emergency repairs on any bike ride.
It is versatile, lightweight, and durable. I carry it in my saddle bag or in my camelback on every ride I go on whether it be a century road ride or a day of miles of single-track.
The only complaints I have with the IB-3 are its slight bulkiness over the Crank brothers M17 and the way the tire lever is attached. Often times when handling the IB-3 the tire lever pops off its track unexpectedly. This isn’t a huge deal, just something to note. Other than that I’ve enjoyed my IB-3 for the past 6 months that I’ve used it.
Here is the IB-3 compared to the AWS-11 for size. As you can see it’s much smaller while still providing much more versatility.
If you’re looking for a versatile, lightweight, and durable multi-tool for cycling, I highly recommend the IB-3 from ParkTool as it provides all of those functions and more!
