Tony Martin's Specialized S-Works Shiv | Vuelta A Espana 2014

Three time World Time Trial Champion Tony Martin has a very, very special bike indeed. Matt Stephens got up close and personal with his custom painted Specialized Shiv.

Ahead of the Vuelta a Espana, we snuck Tony Martin's TT bike away from the Omega Pharma Quick Step team mechanics to check out whether there is anything other than Tony's awesome power that makes this the fastest bike in the world.

And there is. This bike is built for speed. His position on the skis is ultra tight, keeping his frontal area as low as possible. He's also using SRAM's TT specific shifters and levers on Specialized bars.

His customary 58 tooth chainring is also present to give him the optimal chainline for most of his riding. It's partnered with a 44 inner ring, and an 11-26 cassette at the back.

Zipp wheels, Specialized tyres and Look pedals round out the package. Is this the fastest bike in the world? Yes, pretty much!
